Weather in Dubai
Dubai is located close to the Tropic of Cancer and the Northern desert belt. This is what gives the city its year-round tropical desert climate. Summer is humid with daytime temperatures averaging around 38°C and winter is cool, getting down to around 14°C at night. Despite its extremes, Dubai can be enjoyed in maximum comfort no matter what time of year you visit. All resorts and venues boast some of the world’s most advanced technologies and, as a result, are magnificently climate-controlled to help you regulate!
Dubai’s summer stretches on between July and August. The climate tends to be hot and humid and rainfall is rare. Daytime temperatures average 38°C and, even of an evening, they rarely drop below 30°C. Travellers during this time are able to make the most of some of the city’s key attractions and experiences. The beaches, resort pools and incredible shopping centres offer a delightfully cool refuge. Soak up the sun or explore the world’s most fascinating, multi-level complexes!
Dubai’s winter extends from October through to March. Temperatures drop considerably and rainfall can be expected. Daytime high temperatures average 24°C and lows sit around a cool 14°C. Rains fall predominantly between December and March though showers are short-lived. In recent years, the amount of rain has increased though the annual recorded amount is still only around 150mm. When travelling in winter, it’s a good idea to pack some light layers just in case you feel the cold!
When is the best time to visit Dubai?
Dubai can be enjoyed at all times of the year, with plenty of activities, experiences and festivals to enjoy. If you want a holiday full of outdoor adventures, then the winter months are the best time for you. The humidity levels are low and temperatures are fantastic for outdoor activities. Water temperatures are comfortable at this time of year too. Winter does come with a chance of rainfall though so, to avoid the rain, visit on the cusps on summer. The weather is perfect during May and September and beach bums can enjoy the endless sun! Other summer months also have their perks. The tourist scene is a lot quieter during these times, meaning less crowds and better bargains when you visit the malls and souks! Summer is also a good opportunity to visit all the indoor attractions around the city, including the Burj Khalifa, the museum and the indoor theme park, IMG Worlds of Adventure.
